Recent developments suggest that we may have caught our first glimpse of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Information regarding the successor to the Nintendo Switch has intensified recently, fueled by rumors, leaked specifications, and purported 3D models of the device. It appears that we have potentially seen the handheld before its anticipated 2025 launch.
A trailer from a third-party accessory firm, Satisfye, which was later removed, inadvertently showcased a preview of the new device. Within this promotional material for the ZenGrip 2, a new attachment designed for the upcoming console, an attentive observer found an intriguing image of the Switch 2.
A user on X or Twitter named DP19 posted a screenshot capturing this moment that hints at the device's appearance. While the image is somewhat unclear, it does suggest a console design reminiscent of the current Switch, coupled with the ZenGrip 2 attachment.
In one part of the conversation, the user mentioned that Satisfye accidentally included footage of the next-generation Nintendo console in their promotional materials, resulting in what seems to be the first official glimpse of the Switch 2. Although somewhat blurred, the image provides a significant lead on the new device.
In response, another user, WickedRay, contributed a clearer image extracted from the now-deleted trailer, offering a better understanding of the console’s features. Despite the obscured presentation, it appears that the new handheld maintains a similar aesthetic to the original Nintendo Switch, predominantly dressed in black. Furthermore, it seems to sport the "extra button" rumored to be present on the Switch 2 joycons, as pointed out by DP19.
Although Nintendo has not yet issued an official announcement about the next handheld device, a confirmation concerning the anticipated launch date for the Switch 2, which is projected to occur before the conclusion of 2024. Additionally, Nintendo has stated that the forthcoming console will ensure compatibility with the original Switch.
