New Hope for Metal Gear Solid Movie as Promising Update Teases Exciting Revelations

Metal Gear Solid movie receives a promising update after years of silence: Everyone's going to be really excited and surprised.

For the first time in years, there’s news on the Metal Gear Solid movie.

Producer Ari Arad mentioned in Brian Crecente’s Game newsletter on Substack that they were still working on the script, but couldn't disclose more details yet.

On whether it will be the pinnacle of video game adaptations, he added it’s going to be really exciting and surprising. Getting Metal Gear right would obviously be amazing because it’s a lot more meditative than some of the other adaptations. Personally, he wants it to be terrific.

Initially announced back in 2014 with Kong: Skull Island’s Jordan Vogt-Roberts on board as director and starring Oscar Isaac as Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid has been in a state of limbo (or development hell, depending on perspective) for quite some time.

It’s unclear if Isaac is still attached to the project. In October 2022, he expressed his enthusiasm to ComicBook.com, stating they wanted it to happen and urged fans to remain excited.

He then cautioned about considering the script, story, and overall take but was hopeful that his favorite game would get the big-screen treatment.

As far back as 2018, to give an idea of the Metal Gear Solid’s prolonged creative process, director Vogt-Roberts outlined his plan to embrace the more unusual aspects of Hideo Kojima’s legendary stealth series.

Vogt-Roberts expressed the beauty of Metal Gear and credited producers and the studio for embracing the weird aspects of the game, including supernatural and horror elements, during an interview with Screen Rant.

Hopes are high that the Metal Gear Solid movie will soon unveil itself to the world. A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, titled Delta, is set for release in the near future and will feature a ‘Legacy Style’ control scheme and visual filters that replicate the 2004 PS2 original.
